Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and its affiliate SpaceIn made history by launching SpaceANT-D, Malaysia’s first microsatellite, using a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

SpaceIn CEO Norilmi Amilia Ismail said the launch was the result of joint efforts by USM, SpaceIn and the Malaysian Amateur Radio Transmitter Society (MARTS) and marked an important achievement in achieving Malaysia’s Space Exploration 2030 goals. The satellite uses Space Advanced Network Technology (SpaceANT) and is focused on the agriculture, forestry, oil and gas industries.

SpaceANT-D will be released within 7 to 10 days and perform data storage and transmission tasks for IoT applications, demonstrating the diverse uses of small satellites.
