Vietnam plans to produce 100,000-500,000 tons in 2030

Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade has just submitted a report to the Prime Minister, approving the hydrogen energy production strategy for 2030 and looking ahead to 2050 on November 1.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, hydrogen energy is considered a clean energy source around the world and is part of the energy structure of many countries aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

Specifically, as of the beginning of 2023, more than 40 countries have introduced national hydrogen energy strategies and major financial support policies to form and develop the hydrogen energy industry.

Typical leading countries include the EU, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Australia, Canada, the United States… some of them. By 2050, the EU has set a goal of hydrogen energy accounting for 13-14% of the energy structure, Japan and South Korea. The proportions of hydrogen energy in the energy structure are 10% and 33% respectively.

The strategic goal of hydrogen energy development announced by the United States is to reach 10 million tons of clean hydrogen per year by 2030 for decarbonization in coal production and refining. This will increase to 50 million tons per year in the future and expand the scope of hydrogen energy utilization by 2050. Hydrogen energy applications.

In Vietnam, the Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed that Vietnam is set to produce 100,000 to 500,000 tons by 2030, increasing to 10 to 20 million tons by 2050. This target is equivalent to 5% to 10% of domestic energy demand and meets the targets set by the national energy plan.
