Shopee outpaces other e-commerce rivals in Vietnam

Shopee continues to dominate Vietnam’s e-commerce market, accounting for 67.9%, followed by TikTok Shop, accounting for 23.2%. Lazada and Tiki ranked third and fourth respectively, with 7.6% and 1.3% respectively. Sales increased by 83.2% to 766.7 million pieces, far exceeding expectations. The growth of online shopping is in line with the recovery trend of the overall retail industry, with quarterly retail sales growing by 8.2%.

TikTok Shop activity shows that about 2.8 million small and medium-sized enterprises sell on the platform, and the number of merchants with stable sales doubled last year. YouNet ECI predicts that the annual sales of the e-commerce market will reach US$16.8 billion in 2025, and the value of shopping and entertainment will reach US$8.1 billion.

Shopee launches Shopee Video to combat competition. HSBC pointed out that the development of e-commerce has accelerated the growth of the digital economy in Vietnam and the entire South and Southeast Asia regions.
