According to reports from Bernama, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Liu Zhentong said that Malaysia occupies an important position in the global chip manufacturing supply chain and welcomes investment in the back-end and front-end of the semiconductor value chain. The Malaysian semiconductor industry accounts for 7% of the global market and contributes 23% to the United States (US) semiconductor trade.

Liu Zhentong said the back-end manufacturing of semiconductors is crucial as advanced packaging is becoming an increasingly complex industry and Malaysia’s participation in the global supply chain depends on it. Malaysia accounts for 13% of global back-end semiconductor production and excels in chip assembly, packaging and testing, and electronics manufacturing services.
