Elon Musk demonstrated his artificial intelligence (AI) robot, named Grok, challenging ChatGPT and claimed that the prototype outperformed ChatGPT 3.5 on multiple benchmarks.
Grok is the first product from Musk’s xAI company and is currently being tested with a limited number of U.S. users. It was developed based on data from Musk X (formerly Twitter) and therefore is more up-to-date than alternative bots with static data sets. The robot is also designed to have a certain intelligence and rebellious streak.
xAI said Grok was developed in two months and plans to make it available to all X Premium+ users after the beta phase.
Musk hopes to build xAI into a universal application that transcends social platforms, similar to China’s WeChat. Grok will be an important part of making that happen, and while xAI is an independent company, it intends to work closely with X, Tesla and others.
