Maybank has expanded its cross-border QR code payment services to China, becoming one of the first services in this market. This initiative will benefit more than 8 million MAE mobile app users visiting China and 700,000 QRPay merchants.

Community Financial Services Group chief executive officer Datuk John Chong said this demonstrates Maybank’s commitment to providing convenience and underlines its strategic goal of strengthening its regional presence. Malaysian MAE mobile app users can make cashless payments through Alipay merchants in China by scanning the QR code and entering the amount to complete the transaction. Merchants are also able to accept QR code payments from inbound travelers from China, providing a fast, convenient and secure payment experience.
