Foxconn launches first batch of low-orbit satellites

Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn) successfully launched the first two low-orbit satellites via SpaceX rockets, marking the Taiwanese electronics manufacturer’s entry into the space communications market.

Foxconn hopes to diversify its business through satellite technology and explore new areas. The two satellites, jointly developed by Foxconn and Taiwan’s National Central University, are backpack-sized and weigh about 9 kilograms each. They carry cameras, communications and other equipment. They are designed to orbit the Earth every 96 minutes at an altitude of 520 kilometers.

Foxconn Chairman Liu Yangwei is committed to diversifying business, focusing on developing areas such as electric vehicles, digital medicine and robotics, as well as artificial intelligence, semiconductors and communications satellite technology.
