Chinese home appliance giant Midea will set up an office in Australia and plans to launch major projects in 2024. Midea already has an Australian site and the expansion is expected to involve collaborations with key retail partners in the refrigerator and cooking sectors. This move may pose a challenge to other home appliance distributors and cost-effective high-end brands.
Kurt Jovais, president of Midea America, previously worked for Samsung Australia. Midea enjoys a large price advantage for many brand products sold in Australia.
