Malaysia receives RM63.02 billion investment from US technology giant

Prime Minister Anwar revealed that Malaysia has received a total investment of RM63.02 billion from US technology giants, of which RM8.33 billion was from the trade and investment mission to the US before the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), and the rest came from One-on-one meetings with tech giants.

The trade mission secured investments from Abbott Laboratories, Mondelēz International, Amsted Rail, Ford, Boeing and others. Anwar specifically mentioned TikTok’s large-scale investment, emphasizing attention to the speed of investment approval and technology transfer. He said that Malaysia is actively attracting electric car manufacturers, and after communicating with Tesla CEO Musk, he believes that its presence will be beneficial to the country.

At the APEC summit, Anwar emphasized the consistency of policies to attract investment and advocated more actively simplifying the one-stop institutional process. Regarding conflicts between China and the United States, he emphasized maintaining neutrality, avoiding involvement in the Cold War between major powers, and advocating understanding and cooperation.
