The Malaysian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti) in partnership with the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) has launched the Food Security Sandbox to address the country’s food security challenges.

The program aims to improve food safety through testing by startups in areas including agriculture, drones, variable rate technology, GPS, geographic information systems (GIS) and the Internet of Things (IoT). The objectives of the plan include improving the country’s food self-sufficiency, increasing agricultural productivity and incomes, reducing the agro-ecological footprint and promoting the commercialization of science and technology.

The government said it will provide additional funds to support innovative businesses and accelerate the release of the commercial potential of technology and innovative products.
