Hyundai’s opening of a high-tech electric vehicle factory in Singapore will be the “pillar” of its electrification strategy for decades to come.

With a new production method, 200 robots do half the work and can produce 30,000 electric vehicles per year. The factory synchronizes the virtual and physical worlds in real time, enabling humans and robots to work together like never before. Robots are responsible for assembly, inspection, and parts process management, allowing humans to focus on more creative and productive duties.

Media reports say the investment is around S$400 million (US$300 million). THE PLANT CURRENTLY PRODUCES THE IONIQ 5 ELECTRIC CAR AND THE AUTONOMOUS IONIQ 5 “ROBO-TAXI”, AND WILL START PRODUCTION OF THE IONIQ 6 SEDAN NEXT YEAR.
