AirAsia has announced the expansion of its services in China, India and Malaysia, reaching 230 weekly flights with an annual capacity of 5.2 million seats in the first quarter of 2024.

To meet the surge in visa-free entry from 1 December 2023, AirAsia Malaysia and AirAsia X have significantly increased their capacity. The move also caters to the latest relaxation of travel restrictions for Malaysians to China.

The CEO of AirAsia Group said the 30-day visa-free entry policy will give a boost to the tourism and economy, and boost economic ties between China, Malaysia and India.

This expansion is also seen as an opportunity to strengthen the connectivity of the two market regions, which is expected to attract 4.6 million travelers in 2024.
