Google confirmed that some Pixel 8s have a display bulge issue, but said it won’t affect performance or damage the screen.

Users pointed out that small bumps are visible under certain lights or angles, which may be components pressing against the screen, causing concern. Google claims this is a normal component imprint of the new display and does not affect performance or durability. Maintenance experts agree with this view and say that this is caused by the OLED manufacturing process and may be an annoyance to individual users.

Google offers parts and software updates for seven years, but Pixel 8 parts cannot be easily replaced. This may be the first test of the new hardware policy.
