Indonesia and Australia are cooperating to develop an electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem, aiming to promote cooperation in the electric vehicle industry between the two countries. The collaboration will cover electric vehicle supply chains, environmental standards, knowledge transfer, corporate partnerships and joint steering committee building.

Indonesia and Australia are rich in mineral resources, especially in nickel and lithium, which are battery materials. Cooperation can help the two countries become core players in the global electric vehicle supply chain.

Indonesia has developed mixed hydroxide sediment plants, while Australia holds 24% of global lithium reserves. The cooperation between the two parties is expected to establish a new electric vehicle battery ecosystem axis and bring more opportunities to both countries.
