Samsung cooperates with Google to launch open source 3D spatial audio technology IAMF, which may challenge the market dominance of Dolby Atmos.

IAMF makes up for the shortcomings of existing 3D audio solutions, combining vertical audio, AI contextual analysis and user customization to improve audio realism. The technology intelligently analyzes scenes and adjusts sound levels, allowing for personalized sound customization.

Samsung promises to apply IAMF technology to home TV speakers and speakers to provide a richer audio experience.

The launch of IAMF shows Samsung charting its own path in the field of 3D spatial audio, which may affect its relationship with Dolby Atmos.
