Indonesia’s state-owned power company PLN cooperated with Egyptian power company Elsewedy Electric at the COP28 Dubai conference to jointly promote Indonesia’s energy transformation.

The agreement between the two parties aims to develop smart grid technology to integrate renewable energy (EBT) with power load centers as a solution for EBT power plants such as wind and solar. This cooperation also promotes the application of smart meter technology and enhances customer experience.

PLN President Darmawan Prasodjo said that a strong and flexible transmission network is the key to increasing Indonesia’s installed renewable energy capacity. The collaboration also provides opportunities for PLN to expand into global markets involving new renewable energy projects.

Ahmed Sadek Elsewedy, CEO of Elsewedy Electric, said that this cooperation supports Indonesia’s implementation of sustainable energy transformation and contributes to the construction of smart power networks.
