British bank Standard Chartered has chosen to locate its new global business services center in Manila as it plans to strengthen its Philippines team.

Standard Chartered Group Manila Services Ltd. will begin operations in 2024, becoming the bank’s global service center in addition to China, India, Malaysia and Poland. These centers are critical hubs for complex, large-scale, cross-border activities, including technology, financial services, cybersecurity and banking.

Bank officials said they are determining manpower requirements for the new service center to officially launch operations next year. Global head of operations Matthew Norris said the decision further supports the bank’s strategic agenda in Asia to better serve customers and businesses in the market.

The new business unit will provide multiple services, including technology development, support services, banking, finance, human resources, risk and legal.
