AMD launches new chips to challenge Nvidia

AMD plans to launch a new MI300 “accelerator” chip equipped with 150 billion transistors to challenge Nvidia’s dominance in the artificial intelligence market.

The new chip has 2.4 times the memory capacity of Nvidia H100 and stronger performance, and is expected to impact the field of large language models. AMD CEO Lisa Su announced massive AI chip industry growth forecasts, reaching $604 billion. The new chips have attracted customers such as Microsoft, Oracle and Meta.

AMD plans to increase accelerator revenue to $3 billion in 2024, and analysts predict that total company sales will soar to $40.4 billion. ​
