Samsung’s foundry revenue increases 14% due to smartphone demand

In the third quarter of 2023, Samsung foundry revenue increased by 14.1% quarter-on-quarter to US$3.69 billion, mainly due to Qualcomm’s orders for mid-to-low-end 5G and 4G Android device processors, 5G modems, and demand for 28nm OLED display drivers.

Trendforce data shows that the total revenue of the world’s top 10 generation factories in the third quarter was approximately US$28.29 billion. TSMC’s market share exceeded 58%, and revenue increased by 10.2% to US$17.25 billion, of which advanced manufacturing processes below 7 nanometers accounted for nearly 60%.

The global semiconductor foundry market as a whole showed elasticity, with the top 10 foundries growing by 7.9% in the third quarter of 2023.
