Indonesia and UAE sign digital economy investment cooperation memorandum

Erick Thohir, Minister of BUMN in Jakarta, visited the UAE and signed a memorandum of understanding on digital economic cooperation to discuss digital economic development cooperation with the UAE government and state-owned enterprises.

Indonesia is expected to become the largest digital economy country in Southeast Asia by 2030, with a value that may reach 4,500 trillion Indonesian rupiah. The digital economy is the key to achieving Indonesia’s goal of becoming a developed country in 2045, and digital transformation work has begun.

The Indonesian government released the “2030 Indonesian Digital Economy National Development Strategy” white paper, which covers six pillars: digital infrastructure, human resources training, research and development, industrial digitalization, inclusive finance, and regulatory policies. The development of digital economy will help enhance international competitiveness.
