Air New Zealand has partnered with Starlink to become one of the first flights in the world to provide Starlink satellite internet.

The cooperation plans to conduct trials on A320 and ATR 72 aircraft in the middle of next year, install hardware to communicate with low-Earth orbit satellite constellations, and provide free Wi-Fi for domestic flights. This trial is expected to last 4-6 months and is the first time Wi-Fi has been added to ATR 72.

Singapore Airlines’ chief digital officer said this will change the way people travel, providing real-time job opportunities and e-commerce opportunities in the air. Several telecommunications companies in Australia have reached agreements with SpaceX and Starlink to use satellite connections.

The vice president of Starlink said that he was honored to cooperate with Singapore Airlines to promote the Starlink satellite Internet experience.
