Activision Blizzard will pay about $50 million to settle a 2021 gender discrimination lawsuit filed by California regulators. The California Department for Civil Rights charged it with denying female employees promotions, paying low wages, and condoning sexual harassment.

The agreement includes CRD withdrawing allegations of systemic harassment, Activision Blizzard acknowledging that no court or investigation has substantiated systematic or widespread harassment, and will take additional steps to ensure fair pay and promotions. The company will provide financial relief to women who worked in California between October 12, 2015 and December 31, 2020. The settlement agreement is subject to approval by the court.

This follows Microsoft’s $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard and in 2021 agreed to pay up to $18 million to settle similar claims filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
