Nissan plans to sell China-developed electric vehicles globally and collaborate with top Chinese universities to accelerate electrification research and development.

The company is considering exporting existing internal combustion engine vehicles and electric and plug-in hybrid models manufactured in China to overseas markets, targeting the same markets as Chinese competitors such as BYD. The move is aimed at expanding exports of Chinese-made vehicles, taking advantage of Chinese manufacturing costs and improving factory capacity utilization.

Nissan plans to establish a joint research center with Tsinghua University to focus on electric vehicle research and development and charging infrastructure. The aim of this collaboration is to gain a deeper understanding of the Chinese market and develop strategies that are more in line with the needs of Chinese customers.
