Chinese manufacturer NIO has unveiled the ET7, a “semi-solid-state” electric car with a range of more than 650 miles, powered by the world’s largest 150kWh battery.

CEO Li Bin demonstrated his strong range by driving 1,044 kilometers in 14 hours, surpassing most gasoline vehicles. The tests were conducted at low temperatures at an average speed of 83.9 km/h, emphasizing the dynamic performance of the 150kWh battery pack.

The ET7’s battery can be upgraded through NIO’s battery swapping system, but its cost is quite high. The battery is manufactured by WeLion New Energy Technology and has a single-cell energy density of 360 Wh/kg.

NIO is a luxury electric vehicle manufacturer that offers battery-as-a-service. However, due to U.S. government regulations, vehicles using certain Chinese battery components may no longer be eligible for the full tax credit.
