According to Flightradar24 data, the first Boeing 787 aircraft delivered to Juneyao Airlines since 2019 landed in Shanghai. Boeing regards China as an important growth market, but it has suspended deliveries during the grounding of the 737 MAX.

China grounded the 737 MAX after a fatal accident, and although it has allowed the aircraft to resume service, diplomatic tensions between China and the United States are still affecting deliveries. Boeing CEO Calhoun said China’s Covid-19 policies have reduced demand for aircraft.

Boeing predicts that China will need 8,560 new commercial aircraft by 2042, but China hopes that the domestically produced C919 can challenge foreign models. However, this delivery is still an important milestone in Sino-US aviation industry relations.
