Apple appeals US watch ban

Apple will appeal the Biden administration’s decision not to overturn a patent infringement ruling on its latest smartwatch. The ban affects the sales of Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 in the United States and is a legal dispute surrounding blood oxygen detection patents.

The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) decided to ban the two watches in October last year, with Masimo Corp accusing Apple of infringing its blood oximetry patent. The ITC ruling has taken effect, and the Biden administration has chosen not to veto it. Masimo has previously accused Apple of poaching employees to gain technical knowledge. The patent battle between the two companies has become a legal dispute between major technology companies.
