LG Display has successfully expanded the application of deuterium in OLED panels to improve efficiency and lifespan. Deuterium was previously only used in blue OLED materials, and LG Display’s new research and development aims to expand to red, green and basic OLED materials.

LG Display is working with key partners to formulate technology strategies and process implementation methods. The company first used deuterium in OLED panels at the end of 2021, and after its success, it encouraged the expansion of applications to improve overall performance.

LG Display won the 2022 HiVi Grand Prix Technology Award with its large-size OLED TV panel using EX technology, which combines deuterium technology and personalized algorithms to increase brightness by 30% and reduce frame thickness by 30% compared with traditional OLED displays.
