Japan Airlines estimates collision losses at approximately $104.8 million

Japan Airlines (JAL) estimated on Thursday that the collision of its JL516 flight with a Japanese Coast Guard aircraft on January 2 would result in approximately 15 billion yen ($104.81 million) in operational losses. The company said the damage would be covered by insurance.

The company is evaluating the impact of this incident on its consolidated financial results in March 2024 and commits to disclose any necessary information at any time.

The accident occurred at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. All 379 passengers on board were successfully evacuated, but five crew members on the small plane died in the accident.
