South Korea’s unemployment rate climbs to nearly two-year high in December ​

South Korea’s unemployment rate rose to its highest level in nearly two years in December, according to official data released on Wednesday. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the unemployment rate hit 3.3%, up from 2.8% in November and the highest level since January 2022.

In contrast, South Korea’s annual unemployment rate for the whole of 2023 was 2.7%, continuing a three-year downward trend and hitting the lowest level since data began to be recorded in 2000.
