Microsoft lays off 1,900 employees

After Microsoft completes the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, it will lay off 1,900 game department employees, accounting for 8%. Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer said the layoffs were a painful decision to reduce overlapping areas, and Activision Blizzard President Mike Ybarra will also leave.

Other technology companies such as Alphabet, Amazon and eBay have also laid off employees recently. The technology industry laid off the most employees last year, with Microsoft laying off more than 10,000 people.
