Toyota Motor Corporation has suspended shipments of 10 models due to certification issues with some diesel engines at Toyota Industries.

The investigation found a horsepower output test irregularity, which was based on a specific software module and differed from the production software resulting in small data differences. This problem follows Daihatsu’s announcement last month that it had not been properly tested for crash safety. Daihatsu has ceased shipments and suspended operations.

Toyota said it will conduct a comprehensive review and ensure that safety and quality are paramount. A total of 10 engine models were implicated, including six in Japan. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will conduct an on-site inspection.
