Société Générale plans to lay off about 900 employees in France to reduce costs.

The layoffs, which are mainly concentrated in the information technology and support departments of the bank’s headquarters in the La Défense business district, will be carried out through voluntary departures. The layoffs are expected to be around 900 to 1,000 people, representing less than 2% of Société Générale’s total number of employees in France.

Société Générale employs 112,000 people worldwide, and this move is aimed at improving efficiency. As of now, the bank has not commented on this.
