BYD to open factory in Vietnam in May

China’s BYD plans to open a factory in Hanoi in May, with the first batch of cars and SUVs to be sold. Its SUV BYD Atto 3 is very popular and has strong market demand in Sweden and Thailand. It has a 60.48 kWh battery and a cruising range of 480 kilometers. The starting price in Thailand is US$30,750.

The company is building a US$504 million factory in Thailand and is expected to start production this year. Vietnam will import cars from China. In the future, it can import cars from Thailand and enjoy zero import taxes in Southeast Asian countries. BYD sold 1.62 million vehicles globally last year, second only to Tesla.
