NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said at the Stanford Forum that general artificial intelligence (AGI) may appear in the next five years, but it depends on the definition of AGI.

He believes that if passing human-designed tests is used as a standard, AGI is already on the rise. However, Huang also acknowledged the challenge of a broader definition of truly understanding and replicating the workings of the human mind.

He noted that while AI applications will grow, advances in algorithms and processing efficiency may reduce overall demand for chips.

While Huang’s predictions have garnered attention, it’s critical to understand the nuances behind his statements, as the true nature of artificial intelligence may still be a long way off.
