Google Pixel will soon launch a “Satellite SOS” feature that will allow users to connect to emergency services when there is no signal. iPhone-like features have proven to be valuable security features.

Android is currently under development, and users are already seeing a “Satellite SOS” option in settings. This feature allows sending messages and sharing location, via Google Maps if signal is available.

Google collects user data, including names, phone numbers and emergency contacts. Details will be shared with emergency responders and satellite service providers.

Google has yet to announce a list of countries where the service will be available, but a link to Garmin Search and Rescue insurance plans suggests Garmin may be one of the partners. An exact release date for the feature has yet to be confirmed, but there are already hints on Google Pixel devices that it’s coming soon.
