Samsung SDI plans to start mass production of solid-state batteries in 2027, which will have an energy density of 900 watt hours per liter, 40% higher than lithium-ion batteries.

Solid-state batteries have been hailed as the “dream battery” for reducing fire risks and increasing driving range. The company has established a dedicated team and set up an all-solid-state battery pilot line in the R&D center.

The CEO said that the company is ready and plans to launch ultra-fast charging technology, which will be mass-produced in 2026. It can charge the battery from 8% to 80% in 9 minutes, which is expected to significantly shorten the charging time.
