Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark said that the digital era requires more investment in technology infrastructure to meet the needs of artificial intelligence and cloud computing. He pointed out that data centers play a key role in storing and processing large amounts of data.

The Philippines has the potential to become a data center hub, attracting the interest of giants such as Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure. Nokia currently provides data center services to local telecommunications companies, supporting data flow between servers.

Telecom operators in the Philippines such as PLDT and Globe Telecom are also increasing investment in data centers to enhance their capabilities. PLDT plans to build a 50-megawatt data center in Laguna, while the Globe Data Center unit is building a 124-megawatt data center in Fairview, Quezon City.
