Singtel-owned Optus has launched a new product called SingVerify that aims to strengthen online security through a number verification API after suffering network outages in Australia.

This move is a security measure in response to a data breach in 2022 and a network failure in 2023. SingVerify is built on the GSMA’s Open Gateway Framework and is designed to reduce fraud, protect customer data, and provide consumers with a safer digital lifestyle.

The Singtel CEO said this solution would help eliminate cumbersome authentication methods and protect consumers from potential financial losses.
