In 2013, Samsung launched the Galaxy Gear, a rectangular smartwatch, followed by the Gear 2 and Gear Live. Although the company later focused on round smartwatches, latest reports suggest that Samsung will once again launch square and rectangular smartwatches under the Galaxy Watch brand.
Sources say the idea is being discussed heatedly within the company and the change is likely to happen. It’s unclear whether the new rectangular watch will be the Galaxy Watch 7, Samsung’s next foldable watch, or launch in 2025.
