South Korea’s Ministry of Transport announced that Hyundai Motor and its sister company Kia will recall about 170,000 electric vehicles due to charging system software problems.

Hyundai will recall 169,332 vehicles domestically, including the Ioniq and Genesis series. Kia will recall 56,016 electric vehicles. Software errors may cause difficulty in supplying power to the low-voltage battery, causing the vehicle to stall while driving.

Hyundai Motor Group said it will take immediate action to ensure customer safety and the voluntary recall will begin on March 18.
