Chinese tech company sells planes on Taobao

Chinese technology company EHang Holdings Co., Ltd. has sold its self-developed unmanned electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft EH216-S on Taobao, priced at 2.39 million yuan each.

Vice President He Tianxing said the move was aimed at letting the public understand the future development potential of the low-altitude economy. The EH216-S has obtained the standard airworthiness certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China, marking its qualification for commercial operations. The company backed up core components such as propellers, motors, flight control systems and batteries.

The Chinese government proposes to cultivate emerging industries such as low-altitude economy. It is expected that by 2025, China’s low-level economic output value will reach 3-5 trillion yuan.
