DoorDash announced an expanded partnership with Alphabet’s Wing to introduce a drone delivery pilot to the United States.

Service is available to some Wendy’s customers in Virginia. Once the user selects the drone option, the order will be delivered via Wing drone within 30 minutes. The delivery address needs to have an open space of two meters in diameter. DoorDash will deploy up to three drones, with overweight or oversized orders handled by delivery people.

Alphabet has been piloting it in Christiansburg since 2019, and DoorDash plans to expand the project to other U.S. cities. DoorDash says this will provide more efficient, sustainable and convenient delivery options.

Wing has partnered with companies like Walmart and Walgreens to deliver more than 350,000 items in three countries.
