A spokesman for the Thai government revealed that Isuzu Motors plans to produce the electric version of the D-MAX pickup truck in Thailand and plans to export it to Norway, the United Kingdom, Australia and other countries starting in 2025.

The company will invest 1 trillion yen in research and development and testing centers, and electric models will debut at the Bangkok International Motor Show next week. Thailand has attracted investment from automakers including Chinese brands, including Germany’s BMW, which is building a high-voltage battery production facility in Rayong and plans to build an electric vehicle assembly plant by 2025.

The Thai government is providing incentives and tax breaks to achieve its 2030 target of 30% of overall production of electric vehicles.
