The U.S. Department of Justice recently sued Apple, accusing it of monopolistic behavior, particularly regarding the compatibility of third-party smartwatches with iOS. This was seen as evidence of unfair competition.

Apple considered making the Apple Watch compatible with Android, but abandoned the idea due to technical challenges. The lawsuit could force Apple to reevaluate decisions that, while beneficial to the ecosystem, also limit consumer choice.

The lawsuit also touches on other issues, such as concerns about the “green bubble” and App Store monopoly in iOS.
