The Philippine Board of Investment (BoI) promoted the Philippines as a green metals and processing hub at a mining conference in Canada.

A BoI delegation briefed representatives from 10 foreign companies at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) 2024 conference on the critical role of Philippine minerals in the global energy transition. Although no specific commitments were given, several companies expressed interest in visiting the Philippines in the third quarter.

The Philippine government hopes to process minerals locally to meet industrial needs or export higher-value materials. The Philippines has vast amounts of copper, nickel, iron, chromite, cobalt, gold and rare earth elements, and therefore has vast investment potential in various industries such as electric vehicles, smart manufacturing and green metals.
