The United States is planning to release a list of advanced Chinese chip manufacturing plants banned from receiving critical tools to help companies more easily curb the flow of technology to China, according to three people familiar with the matter. The list is expected to be released in the coming months.

The U.S. Commerce Department has banned U.S. companies from exporting equipment to Chinese factories that make advanced chips since 2022, but companies have been urging the Commerce Department to release a list because of the difficulty in identifying those factories.

This move shows that the United States is tightening restrictions on Chinese chips so that American companies can better comply with relevant regulations.
