Chinese rocket manufacturer Aerospace Era has partnered with Taobao to produce reusable express rockets that it plans to deliver around the world within an hour. The rocket can carry 10 tons of cargo in a 120 cubic meter container. Alibaba did not respond to a request for comment.
Beijing-based Space Age will use the Yuanxing-1 rocket, which completed ignition and sea recovery tests last year. President Xi Jinping has called for the expansion of strategic industries, including the commercial space sector, which is considered key to building communications, remote sensing and navigation satellite constellations.
China conducted 17 commercial launches last year, one of which failed. Space Epoch received 200 million yuan in financing last November.
