According to analysis by UBI Research, the field of foldable mobile phones is expected to grow significantly, with OLED display shipments increasing from 27.4 million units in 2024 to 52.7 million units in 2028.
Samsung Display’s shipments will increase to 13.4 million units in 2023, an increase of 6.3%, while BOE’s shipments will reach 6.2 million units, an increase of more than three times from last year.
Despite competition from Chinese manufacturers, Samsung will maintain its lead in the foldable phone market and is expected to launch an expanded Galaxy Fold range this year.
Apple’s planned foldable iPhone is expected to use Samsung Display’s OLED panel, but the release may be delayed to early 2027 due to display technology issues.
