Google has released its first data center CPU based on Arm architecture, named Axion, which is expected to power data centers such as Amazon.

Axion is designed with Arm’s Neoverse V2 CPU, delivering 30% better performance than the fastest Arm-based general-purpose instances, 50% better processing performance, 50% better energy efficiency, and 60% better than current-generation x86 CPUs.

Google’s services will fully use Axion to bring performance leaps for general workloads. Axion’s platform is Titanium, which is designed for operations such as networking and security.

Google Cloud customers will be able to use Axion across services, with Axion scheduled to be released later this year, with specific information to be released.
