Data from the Philippine Department of Energy show that coal-fired power generation remains the main energy source, although contributions from renewable energy and other sources have increased.

In 2023, the grid-connected installed capacity will increase slightly, with coal power generation accounting for 43.9% and renewable energy accounting for 29.7%, of which solar energy will increase by 8.03%, hydropower will increase by 1.44%, geothermal will remain unchanged, and biomass will decrease by 4.25%. Oil-based power generation dropped to third place, while natural gas remained stable.

The energy storage system increased to 469 MW, and the off-grid installed capacity increased to 684.67 MW. Petroleum power generation dominates, followed by renewable energy.
